Here's what I'm trialing this season and my goals for each:

Winter Rapeseed:

Aim: To finally achieve a 3-ton/ha yield with restricted nitrogen (120 kg/ha).

Testing different seed treatments and sowing densities.

Variety: “Texas” from Rapool 🌾

Hybrid Winter Wheat:

Aim: Compare new hybrid varieties against a conventional variety to see if hybrids are worth the higher price.

Trialing 5 hybrid varieties vs. KWS Ahoi 🌾

Winter Wheat “Perenaise”:

Aim: Grow and document an Estonian variety, with the goal of producing local flour.

Variety: Perenaise, an Estonian wheat 🌾

After months of preparation, I was thrilled to fin

After months of preparation, I was thrilled to finally host eAgronom’s Cover Crop Field Day on my own field! 🌾

It was an incredible experience to be part of this event and share the stage with such knowledgeable experts—Ed Brown, Simon Boughton, and Rhyannon Galea. Our discussions ranged from cover crop strategies to sustainable agriculture, and the field trials also went really well (or at least I like to think so😅).

A special shoutout goes to Greta Formaglio, who spent the majority of the day in the soil pit, passionately educating farmers about the soil!

Thanks to eAgronom for giving me this incredible opportunity to be a part of such an important day for the farming community. Cover crops are the future of sustainable farming, and I'm glad that I could give my little contribution 🙏

I’m really happy to announce that I’ve partnered with Wihuri Agri for a year-long collaboration. As part of this, I’ll be using the second-generation John Deere 7R 330 tractor on the farm and sharing my honest thoughts about how it performs. No filters, no censorship—just real, hands-on feedback! 💬
This is a huge opportunity for me, and it’s something you don’t often see in Estonia or even in neighboring countries. I’m excited to see how this John Deere tractor holds up in real-world conditions and if it can live up to its well-known reputation.
I want to give a big thanks to Wihuri Agri @wihuriagrielu for making this possible. It’s an amazing chance to really test out some advanced farming equipment, and I can’t wait to share the experience with all of you.
Over the next year, I’ll be posting updates on how the tractor handles different tasks around the farm. Together, we’ll find out if Farmer Tõnis goes from blue to green, and whether John Deere can live up to its name! 🚜💪

Agriland gave me a Fendt 728 Gen 7 for 3 days. I used it for tilling and sowing.

It all started when my old blue tractor decided to stop working. Frustrated, I vented on social media, which caught Agriland's attention, and they offered me a Fendt 728 Gen 7 to try. The tractor arrived in early September, just in time for me to use it on some rough fields with a 6m cultivator and a 12ha test plot of hybrid wheat. Perfect timing for a real challenge.
From the moment it arrived, I was impressed. It looked just like it did in the brochures, and the smoothness of the ride left me stunned. Whether on the road or the bumpy field, it was incredibly soft, almost like riding on a cloud. This is remarkable considering the Fendt weighs around 9 tons!

The tractor’s stepless transmission worked effortlessly, and its 300hp handled my cultivator with ease at 10km/h. The smooth power delivery at low RPMs made it a dream to operate, and even on stony ground, the impact was minimal in the cab. Another standout feature was the automatic four-wheel drive system – the tractor seamlessly adjusted power where needed.
One thing that stood out was how well it turned. Thanks to a system that accelerates the outer wheel during tight turns, the Fendt handled corners brilliantly.

The cab, packed with features and customization options, is a comfortable workspace. With three screens, RTK GPS, and the ability to configure just about everything, this machine could probably bake you a cake if you asked it to. However, I did find the cab slightly cramped, similar to other models from the same company. And the joystick controls, while initially overwhelming, became intuitive over time.

Overall, the Fendt 728 Gen 7 is a marvel of modern engineering. Sure, there are a few small things I’d change, but the driving experience, comfort, and overall quality more than make up for them. Good things cost money, and this tractor is worth every cent for those who want the best.

What could be better to enjoy "fruits" of your work in a nice glass while looking over terraced vineyard?!

🍇But growing grapes in Estonia isn't easy - our winters can be very cold and on the other hand summers are short. Not the best climate to have a vineyard and winery but as you can see it is possible!
